SALT

BY KAELYNN PUGH

She is salt

and there's something to say,

about a woman who leans

against the edge of a blade,

Abrasive and loud

she refuses to quiet,

They will not dim her light,

She dares them to try it.

For she laughs in the face

of those who crow SILENT!

for salt in the wound,

is always a bit violent.

But know this, dear one

as you ponder her fire,

The girl was once sugar,

but the price was higher.
